Russian Language Programme for Bilingual Children
From speaking Russian at home to reading, writing and using it with confidence.
Our Russian Language Programme is designed for children who grow up in multilingual families and live outside Russia, including children who already speak or understand Russian at home.
Speaking Russian is only the beginning. Our programme helps children develop the complete language skill — speaking, listening, reading, writing, vocabulary and grammar — while maintaining a strong connection with Russian language and culture.
Through structured, age-appropriate learning, children gradually develop the confidence and skills they need to use Russian independently and work towards recognised language proficiency levels.
Why Choose Our Programme?
This is not a traditional beginner Russian course.
Our students often already understand or speak Russian. What they need is support in developing literacy, accuracy, vocabulary, grammar and confident communication.
We help children:
speak Russian confidently and clearly;
understand spoken Russian;
read age-appropriate texts;
write independently and accurately;
expand their vocabulary;
understand and apply Russian grammar;
retell stories and express their own ideas;
develop both spoken and written language;
maintain their connection with Russian language and culture;
progress towards recognised Russian language proficiency levels.
Ages 5–7
Building Strong Foundations
Programme: “To the Circus!”
For younger children, our priority is to make Russian enjoyable while building strong foundations for future literacy and language development.
Children learn through stories, games, pictures, creative activities, songs, dialogues and age-appropriate reading and writing tasks.
Children develop:
🗣 Speaking
Vocabulary, sentence building, answering questions and describing people, objects and situations.
📖 Reading
Letters, sounds, syllables and words, gradually progressing towards short texts.
✏️ Writing
Pre-writing skills, letter formation, words and simple sentences.
📚 Grammar
Essential grammatical structures introduced naturally through meaningful activities.
🎨 Creative Language
Storytelling, picture descriptions, role play, poems, dialogues, retelling and creative tasks.
Our goal
To give every child a strong foundation in Russian speech, reading, writing and grammar, preparing them for future progression towards A1.
At this age, certification is not an automatic requirement. Readiness for a particular level is assessed individually.
Ages 8–10

🎧 Listening
Children learn to understand spoken Russian, identify important information and respond appropriately.
A Clear Pathway for Progress
Every child starts from a different point. Our programme therefore combines a structured curriculum with individual progress monitoring.
The recommended pathway depends on each child’s starting level, progress and readiness.
Russian Language Certification
For children aged 8 and above, we can prepare students for age-appropriate TORFL Primary assessments.
These assessments are designed for younger Russian-language learners and evaluate key communication skills. Their results are aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Depending on each child’s development, the programme may lead towards A1 or A2, with further progression to higher levels as the child grows.
A1 — Elementary
At A1, a child can understand and use basic expressions, communicate in familiar everyday situations and work with simple spoken and written Russian.
A2 — Basic
At A2, a child can communicate with greater confidence in everyday situations, understand a wider range of texts and express ideas more independently in speaking and writing.
We Prepare Children for Language — Not Just Exams
Our goal is not simply to teach children how to pass a test.Throughout the year, teachers monitor progress in:
Reading • Writing • Listening • Speaking • Vocabulary • Grammar
For children aged 8+, preparation can gradually include the skills and formats required for TORFL Primary while continuing to develop genuine, practical Russian language ability.
At the end of the learning period, children complete an internal assessment and mock examination.
Based on the results, the teacher recommends the most appropriate next step.
A child may be recommended for A1 or A2, depending on their actual level — rather than simply their age.
Two Lessons Every Week
Regular contact with the language is essential for meaningful progress.
Our programme includes two lessons per week, with each lesson combining different language skills.
A Long-Term Russian Language Journey
Our aim is to give children a clear pathway they can follow as they grow.

More Than a Language Class
For children growing up in a multilingual environment, Russian can remain a language they speak and understand at home without becoming a language they can confidently read and write.
We want to change that.
Our goal is to help children turn Russian into a complete and lasting language skill — a language they can speak, understand, read and write with confidence.
At the same time, we want children to maintain a meaningful connection with Russian language and culture.
With consistent learning, individual support and a clear long-term pathway, children can continue developing their Russian year after year and see their progress reflected in recognised language levels.
